Hauser Optik – A name that stands for quality

Working in the town of Reichenbach (O/L) in Saxony, Josef Hauser began producing technical glass articles in 1921. With the use of ash furnaces, he initially produced moulded glass items, glass jewellery as well as prism reflectors for use as road markings, and later also spectacle lenses.

Thanks to continuous further development of the moulding technology, the company already succeeded in the 1940s in producing blank-moulded optical aspheres - a production technique that at that time was mastered by no other firm anywhere in the world, and thanks to continuous further development is still used by us today.

In 1952, Josef Hauser moved his business to Solms in the state of Hessia, where the company is still located to this day.

With the production of precision optical spheres, the company took its next pioneering development step and once again demonstrated its innovative strength.

When Josef Hauser, the firm’s founder, died in 1963, his two sons Hans and Wolfgang Hauser took over the running of the business in the second generation and continue to do so successfully today. With the handover of the baton to the technically highly qualified “third generation”, our company can look forward with confidence and optimism into a future that will be characterised, on the one hand, by constant technical change, but on the other by our unchanging commitment to quality and reliability.

Through continuous innovation, close cooperation with our customers and consistent further development of our production methods for the manufacture of lenses, aspheres and optical precision spheres, our company is strongly placed today to meet the challenges of international competition.
