Our history

From a long-time experience into a dynamic future

The founder of HAUSER OPTIK, JOSEF HAUSER took up production of glass products in the Saxon small town of Reichenbach in 1921. Initially, these were lenses and other pressed glass parts, as well as reflectors for bicycles that were subject to great demand at the time.

After World War II, HAUSER OPTIK moved from Saxony to Solms in Central Hesse, in particular also due to the long relationship with Ernst Leitz in Wetzlar, one of the most important optical institutions in the world.

The first producer of moulded aspherical lenses worldwide

In the early 50`s HAUSER was the first company to produce moulded aspheres. They formed part of the slide projectors by LEITZ and they were also used by all other producers. Many years later, HAUSER precision balls were processed for the first CD players, just to mention one of the milestones in HAUSER production.
